Negotiation Skills
This training is for leaders and team members who want to come to their professional negotiations well prepared and with a deliberate strategy.
What is the program about?
One- or two-day group training, in person or online; also available with Thod support.
A negotiation begins when someone decides what they want to achieve and what they are willing to give for it. Anyone who sits down unprepared ends up playing their counterpart's strategy. That is why the training starts with planning objectives and separating strategy from tactics, and moves on from there to recognizing and handling the counterpart's tools.
What you take away: more confident and more effective negotiation communication; purposeful negotiation built on recognizing your counterpart's priorities; proactive handling of emotions, and the ability to express your thoughts and views firmly, even in difficult situations.
Who is the program for?
For leaders and team members who want to come to their professional negotiations well prepared and with a deliberate strategy. It is especially timely when team members need to prepare for professional negotiations with partners and clients.
When is it worth starting?
- negotiation strategies and tactics need to be consciously distinguished and built
- the goal is to plan your own negotiation objectives.
How we work
We treat negotiation as a process rather than a one-off event, and translate technical knowledge into argumentation. We practice the core techniques to skill level in experiential negotiation situations, so everyone also discovers their own strengths while negotiating.
We approach negotiation situations from the angle of communication competencies: we use technical knowledge for argumentation and handle situations as processes.
We build skills through experiential practice, from planning objectives to recognizing the counterpart's tools.
Program topics
- general overview of negotiation techniques
- distinguishing and building negotiation strategies and tactics

Delivery
We weight the topics to fit the client organization's situation. On request, we support the program with the Thod learning support system, which keeps participants applying what they have learned between training days.
It is also worth starting if:
- the counterpart's tools need to be recognized and handled
- questioning techniques and core negotiation techniques need to be mastered at skill level.
