Project Management
This training is for leaders and employees who want to plan complex tasks deliberately and see them through.
What is the program about?
A one- or two-day group training, in person or online; also available with Thod support.
A project isn't a project just because it's called one. It becomes one when its goal and deliverables are clear, you know who the stakeholders are and what they expect, dependencies and risks are visible, and there is a method for measuring progress. Where this is missing, the project dissolves into day-to-day tasks, and in the end nobody knows when or why it went off track.
What you take away: insight into what makes project-based work distinctive; the ability to recognize dependencies, identify risks and estimate resource needs; a practical, systematic project management method, with tools for organizing resources.
Who is the program for?
For leaders and employees who want to plan complex tasks deliberately and see them through. It is especially timely when tasks need to be defined and executed as projects.
When is it worth starting?
- When mapping stakeholder needs and project communication need improvement
- When your organization's project maturity should be assessed and developed.
How we work
The training starts with what is worth running as a project in the first place, and how mature the organization's project practice is. From there, we work through everything from mapping stakeholder needs and project communication to control tools in hands-on exercises, not lectures.
Participants come to understand how projects work, what their success depends on, and which competencies are needed to define and execute them.
We provide practical tools covering everything from goal setting through scheduling and resources to project closure.
Program topics
- the project model: what is worth running as a project; the organization's project maturity
- strategic goals, expected business impact, project goals and deliverables
- measuring project success, defining metrics
- project communication and stakeholder management
- the general project process, project planning basics, project management knowledge areas
- the competency mix in the project team
- project control tools and techniques.
Delivery
We tailor the weighting of the topics to the client organization's situation. On request, we support the program with the Thod learning support system, which keeps participants applying what they have learned between training days.
It is also worth starting if:
- you need a systematic, measurable project management methodology
- project risks, resources and dependencies need to be managed more deliberately.
