GPOP-Based Self-Awareness
This training is for leaders and employees who want to understand the thinking preferences behind their decisions and communication.
GPOP (Golden Profiler of Personality)
Licensed / external methodologyA questionnaire based on Jungian type theory that assesses thinking and decision-making preferences as well as how a person functions under stress.
- Participants complete the questionnaire before the training, and the profiles are interpreted by an accredited professional; in the training, we translate the preferences into communication, decision-making and teamwork.
GPOP (Golden Profiler of Personality) is John P. Golden's questionnaire, based on C. G. Jung's type theory and an adaptation of the Golden Personality Type Profiler. It works in five dimensions: the direction of attention (extraversion or introversion), the way of gathering information (sensing or intuition), the basis of decision-making (analytical or values-based), the style of organizing one's life (structured or flexible), and a fifth scale that shows the current level of tension and its impact on behavior. This fifth dimension sets it apart from similar Jungian tools: it describes not only how someone functions in everyday life, but also what happens to them under pressure. Each dimension has additional subscales, so the profile is more nuanced than a four-letter type. The psychometric properties of the Hungarian version have been examined in a study published in a professional journal. We use it in individual development, leadership coaching, team analysis and career counseling alike.

What is the program about?
A 1–2-day group training, in person or online, built on the GPOP (Golden Profiler of Personality) questionnaire; also available with Thod support.
Two people see the same situation, yet pay attention to different information and decide on different grounds. One gathers facts and details, the other connections and possibilities; one decides through logical analysis, the other on the basis of values and impact. These are not good or bad ways of working but preferences, and when we are not aware of them, they can easily look like misunderstanding or conflict.
What you take away: your own GPOP profile and an expert interpretation of it; a picture of your own communication, decision-making and learning preferences, as well as your reactions to stress; tools for seeing the other person's different way of working as a difference, not a fault.
Who is the program for?
For leaders and employees who want a deeper understanding of their own and others' thinking and decision-making preferences. It is especially timely when the team has recurring misunderstandings about who pays attention to what and on what basis they decide.
When is it worth starting?
- leaders need a more accurate picture of their own leadership and communication style
- how people function under stress needs to be understood too, not just their everyday behavior.
How we work
GPOP also covers how we function under pressure: the same person decides and communicates differently under stress, and the profile shows this separately. You complete the questionnaire before the training, an accredited professional interprets the results, and then we translate them into teamwork and decision making.
GPOP assesses personal preferences based on Jungian type theory. Every participant receives their own profile, and we work through what it all means for communication, decision making, teamwork and learning.
Program topics
- the basics of Jungian type theory, the concept of preferences
- the five dimensions of GPOP: the direction of attention, the way of gathering information, the basis of decision making, lifestyle orientation and tension level
- interpreting your own profile, strengths and areas for development
- preferences in communication and decision making
- collaboration between different types, team roles
- functioning under pressure: the stress dimension and the reactions that go with it
- translating what has been learned to participants' own workplace situations.
Delivery
We weight the topics to fit the client organization's situation. On request, we accompany the program with the Thod learning support system, which keeps participants applying what they have learned between training days.
It is also worth starting if:
- team composition and roles are on the agenda.
Additional outcomes:
- a shared team-level language for talking about differences.
